Volume Spikes Explained

A volume spike means current activity is elevated relative to a comparison period; it does not reveal motive or guarantee continuation.

Why volume is useful

Higher activity can make a price move more noteworthy and may improve the quality of a shortlist.

Confirm with structure

Review whether price is accepting or rejecting a level, whether the sector participates and whether liquidity is adequate.

Common mistake

Do not treat a single large bar as a standalone signal. News, block activity and opening volatility can distort comparisons.
